Facilitation

The quality of our presence determines the outcomes. Facilitation practice is interesting because it shows that someone can hold a space for others and elevate their presence and well… facilitate. A good facilitator is smooth. A great facilitator disappears completely and is invisible. The best technology disappears as well.

Facilitation is the most egoless activity I know. If you see a “facilitator“ who takes the stage and sucks all the attention in the room know that you are about to be tricked.

User Experience

It is unfortunate that “User” stuck in User Experience, because as anyone who practices will tell you it is not about users, it is about humans. It has to be called Human Experience Design, but we’re stuck with less-than-ideal choice of a word.

I practiced Human Experience Design for two decades and Haah is my best work yet. It is far from ideal, and we will iterate every day to improve every aspect of it. And in a very real sense it is already here: you may join us as early adopter today and see for yourself.

I think we will see massive redistribution comparable only to emergence of the internet. Some old players will thrive and many new players will emerge to facilitate exchange of value between agents on behalf of humans.

We will see all kind of matchmaking services integrating with personal agents at scale and providing faster and better services competing with previous web where it matter the most: on user experience.

User Experience

Asking aligned with your preferences agent to book a hotel, a flight, an activity, a venue for your event, a catering services… is a bliss. It just reduces so much friction it is not even a question why we need that. We need that yesterday.

There is no doubt in my mind that agentic economy will take over and quickly. The challenge for us now is how to connect the dots and bring the right emerging players on the platform fast. For that, we need a team.

Team

I got a very strong brand officer, we are talking with bad-ass marketer, an exceptional engineer got an offer and considering. What I need next is a partnership person. Someone who sees sales as facilitation of a win-win, known for broad and long-lasting relationships, and can close very fast when amplified by agents.

Winning

Human and AI intelligence are not on the same axis we are not witnessing a merger of similar intelligences. We are seeing through profound augmentation of one type of intelligence with another. And an optimistic view of that is a win-win when machine intelligence and human intelligence amplify each other.

We still very early in this journey of productizing large language models and creating a new type of operation system with natural agent at the core of it. World Wide Web is the primary enabler of progress of our civilization. We saw it from early days in 90s to now when significant part of the web are pay-to-reach walled gardens exploiting us for attention and selling us as products to corporation. For someone who grew up on the internet it is a bit sad. Internet is about freedom, enablement, and natural reach. It is still is. We have a growing wave of true to the early internet spirit projects like New Things, Huge if True, and Newpress — indie, clear, true voices.

Suggestion has a lot of power to shape a behavior. Especially a suggestion from benevolent actor who have our best interest and preferences in mind.

Minds

As a human I care about a few things in my life. I care about my relationship and other people. I care about places I love (hey, Hong Kong!). I care about my culture: music, books, shows, and movies that inspire me. I care about my projects and topics I’m researching. And I want my agent to care about these things too.

I created the “second brain” system for Haah, because I wanted an agent that aligned with my values and preferences. We named every skill. Peeps for people, Nooks for place, Vibes for culture, Digs for research, Works for projects.

Ok, imagine you have your second brain working. And working really well. Now you may still have a question which goes beyond it.

You may wonder where to go, or who can help you with particular topic, or a research question. Would not it be wonderful if you could ask not just your agent, but agent of another human you trust? We call it haahing.

Haahing

You simply say to you agent: haah to my Marketing circle a question who can help me with marketing in Japan (for example). Or who may help you with research on embodied AI. Or what is the best place in Palo Alto for a nice working session or a workout.

The question is drafted by your agent and, per you permission, went to the circle of people you trust where their agent receive it, check, and draft a reply.

Remember how when google arrived we were constantly receiving a question, googling it, and replying with an answer basically from google? The same thing is happening now with the agents. So let’s just get them in the loop and remove all the friction.

Accessibility

I’m dyslexic and neurodiverse in a few other ways. It is hard for me to spell right. I was mocked and pronounced hopeless at school. But my agent has no problem understanding what I’m saying. Moreover, I can speak in English and you may speak in Chinese and on Haah our agents will kindly translate without even asking.

Because accessibility of technology is a human right.

Fair reach

I’m tired of pay to reach platforms like LinedIn and X. The genuine voices that have something to say have to be amplified. Signal over noise. Money is a way to filter, but not a good one. Internet was always about amplifying fringe voices and we have to come back to that. We need to hear each other and build trust.

With traditional social media internet become so transactional that we are loosing trust at sale. It is good to be hypersensitive to bullshit, but it is sad when bullshit is all you have on your input.

Right people

Nothing is more important in life than meeting the right person at the right time. Solving for that is our mission at Haah.

The way we go about it is that when a circle is growing past 30 members we stop sending every message to every person. Instead our Matchmaker asking participant what they care about, form a profile, vectors it and only delivers what matters to them.

So if you are in one big circle of marketers you sill going to receive only dispatches about what YOU care about, not all of them. Compare that to a WhatsApp group when everyone suffering all the messages.
